Load tests of connectors and steel beams
|
Load tests carried out at the University of Padova
The connector's load bearing capacity and the efficiency of the pinned
connection to the steel beam have been experimentally tested according to CNR 10016 Standards
(Italians Standards for Steel Construction), and conform to regulations in force. The stud's
bending tests were successfully carried out up to a 90° bending angle. Push-out tests and load
tests with normal beam pattern, including both solid slabs and slabs layered on profiled steel
decking, were conducted. The tests verified the optimum performance of the connector and the
evenly distributed strength of its single parts. Its high malleability is associated with
plastic adaptability, resulting in a great capacity to redistribute stress.
The tests were carried out at the laboratory of the "Istituto di Scienza e Tecnica delle
Costruzioni" (Institute of Tectonics and Structural Engineering), Faculty of Engineering,
University of Padua. Pullout resistance tests were also conducted on nails.
